Secondary Suite Requirements (Bylaw 9990, Section 5.3.23)
- Must be a self-contained dwelling unit within an OUD (One-Unit Dwelling) or SDD (Semi-Detached Dwelling)
- Cannot occupy more than 40% of the gross floor area (including basement)
- Maximum size of 80 square metres (860 sq ft)
- Only one secondary suite per OUD or per side of an SDD
- Not permitted in dwellings within a dwelling group
- Must meet all building code requirements including separate entrance, kitchen, bathroom, and egress windows
