Apply After Completion
You cannot apply for the SSI Grant until your suite is complete and you have received your occupancy certificate from the City of Saskatoon. The application is for reimbursement of costs already incurred.
Pre-Application: Required Documents Checklist
Gather these documents before starting your application:
Property Documents
Proof of ownership: Land title or property tax notice showing you own the property
Proof of primary residence: Utility bills, driver's license, or bank statements showing this is your main address
Building permit: Copy of the original building permit application and approval
Occupancy certificate: Final approval from the City of Saskatoon confirming the suite is safe for occupancy
Financial Documents
Contractor invoices: Itemized invoices showing work performed, dates, amounts, and PST charged
Material receipts: Receipts for all materials purchased (if separate from contractor invoices)
Appliance receipts: Receipts for fridge, stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher (up to $5,000 eligible)

Complete Section A: Applicant Information
Provide your name, contact information, and property address. Ensure the address matches your proof of ownership documents.
Complete Section B: Property Information
Confirm this is your primary residence, indicate the suite type (basement, laneway, etc.), and provide occupancy certificate date.
Complete Section C: Eligible Costs
List all eligible costs with invoice numbers, dates, and amounts. Calculate your total eligible costs and the 35% grant amount.
Attach Supporting Documents
Include copies of all invoices, receipts, proof of payment, permits, and occupancy certificate. Organize chronologically for easy review.
Sign and Submit
Sign the declaration, keep a copy for your records, and submit to the Ministry of Finance before March 31, 2027.
